The Honors College offers three distinct scholarship awards: Presidential Scholarships and the Millonzi Distinguished Honors Scholarship. In addition, Honors students may be eligible for the Provost Scholarship, awarded by the Office of Admissions. To be considered for a merit scholarship, your general application for admission to the University at Buffalo (either SUNY or Common Application) must be on file and complete (including all supplemental materials) by December 15th.
The Presidential Scholarship
UB’s top entering freshmen are awarded Presidential Scholarships. This scholarship is valued at $15,000 annually (when combined with other scholarships and grants, this amount may not exceed the cost of attendance), renewable for four years of undergraduate study. While there is no minimum criteria for consideration as it is based on each year’s incoming class, for the 2018 Presidential scholar class, the unweighted gpa ranged from a 94% up to 100% and the SAT score ranged from 1350 to 1600 (ACT composite score ranged from a 29 to 36). Students must be United States citizens or permanent residents. Students who receive Presidential Scholarships are automatically admitted to the Honors College. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is Saturday, January 5, 2019.
Please contact the Honors College with questions and to request the Presidential Scholarship Application for fall 2019 enrollment.
Other Admissions Scholarships
Each year Admissions selects high-achieving freshmen applicants from across the U.S. for Merit Scholarships. No additional application is needed, but to guarantee consideration, students must submit all UB application materials by December 15th. International Merit Scholarships are also available upon admission to non-U.S. residents.
