Grand Valley State University is a public institution established in 1960 with suburban setting located at Allendale. It is ranked 235 in National Universities  in 2024 edition of Best Colleges. It practices semester-based academic calendar. Freshmen are exposed to more than 300 student organizations during an event called “Campus Life Night,” which allows students to explore the many options for extracurricular activities. About 5 percent of the undergraduate community participates in Greek life, and there are more than 20 chapters to choose from. Grand Valley State University has made it a priority to become more environmentally sustainable and has begun providing eco-friendly graduation gowns to its students. The size and location of the university allows students to enjoy both an urban and rural lifestyle.
