Overview

La Trobe University is a public research university based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Its main campus is located in the suburb of Bundoora. The university was established in 1967, becoming the third university in the state of Victoria and the twelfth university in Australia. La Trobe is one of the Australian verdant universities and also part of the Innovative Research Universities group.

La Trobe’s original and principal campus is located in the Melbourne metropolitan area, within the northern Melbourne suburb of Bundoora. It is the largest metropolitan campus in the country, occupying over 267 hectares (660 acres). It has two other major campuses located in the regional Victorian city of Bendigo and the twin border cities of Albury-Wodonga. There are two smaller regional campuses in Mildura and Shepparton and a city campus in Melbourne’s CBD on Collins Street and in Sydney on Elizabeth Street.

La Trobe offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses across its two colleges of Arts, Social Science and Commerce (ASSC) and Science, Health and Engineering (SHE). In 2015, it was ranked in the top 100 universities under 50 by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. In the 2023 QS World University Rankings, it was ranked in the top 217 universities. 

The university also offers different pathway options to help students in their application at La Trobe. Examples of entry schemes include the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), work recognition program, tertiary enabling program, special entry access schemes, Learn, Experience, Access professions (LEAP) and elite athlete bonus scheme.

Upon arrival, a free airport reception service is made available for students. After students are settled, an extensive university orientation is scheduled to prepare students for life and study in Australia. Other support services offered at La Trobe include the one-hour appointment with International Student Services (ISS) and 24-hour student support hotline. Apart from these, La Trobe offers international student scholarships and financial assistance.

Eligibility and Requirements To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must: Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand. Be a new International student applying to study in Semester 2 and Term 4 2024 intakes (commencing July 2024). Deferrals from previous semesters are not eligible for this grant. Be a full fee-paying student (Non-sponsored). Meet all the conditions outlined in the offer, accept the offer, and pay the required deposit mentioned on the offer. Payments must be received by La Trobe University from 18th April 2024 to 31st May 2024. Payments made before or after these dates will not be eligible.

Other Details International students applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course to study at La Trobe University can be rewarded a bonus grant for completing their admission process early. Recipients will automatically be eligible to receive an Early Bird Acceptance Grant of 5% of the first-year tuition fees.
